The Cat’s Out the Bag!

We were delighted to discover that the new St Elmo’s restaurant at 86 East Road, Belgravia, is now open, so we ventured there for lunch today.  The property has been completely transformed from Da Eros, and I was especially excited to see the brand new kiddies play area which comprises three jungle gyms(under cover) , a mini astra turf soccer pitch, a cricket net,

Transforming My Fussy Eater…

…a little mouthful at a time! Before I had a child of my own, I always swore I wouldn’t tolerate a fussy eater.  Having been brought up to eat everything (or just about!), I guess you could say I was totally unprepared for the picky eater that is my daughter and how best to deal with her!!  Despite being introduced to a variety of

Family Dinner Out!

Perhaps, like us, you’ve avoided family dinner outings with young children, for one reason or another.  After our recent holiday during which we ‘trialed’ a few early dinners at restaurants, we decided to brave it and take our ‘3-and-a-bit year old’ to St Elmo’s for an early supper just last week. Suffice to say, we were extremely impressed with their welcoming attitude towards our

Breakfast Date!

This Saturday past, my husband and I decided to try out the breakfast at DV8.  I’d been led to believe it was child-friendly, and given the icy cold weather, we liked the idea of being indoors.  Not having been to DV8 since it re-opened in Kamfinsa, we were both impressed with the new style and spacious layout.  Sadly, it was rather poorly patronised and

Pizza Restaurant Welcomes Kids!

I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered the children’s play area at St Elmo’s today!  After a spot of shopping at the fleamarket with my 2-year old daughter in tow, my mum and I felt like a cappucino, so we decided to venture into St Elmo’s, as I’d heard they offered entertainment for kids.  We were fortunate to find some stools available at the bar, adjacent to the

Mealtime Battles

I never thought I’d be the one to have a child who is a ‘fussy-eater’…  If you know me, you’ll be familiar with my lack of tolerance with such.  So perhaps this is just one of the ways in which God is trying to humble me. Almost prophetic in his advice, the paediatrician’s words of wisdom from over a year ago seem to echo

Family Dining Venue in Jo’burg

I almost neglected to tell you about the wonderfully child-friendly restaurant we visited in Johannesburg recently, en-route back to Harare.  Among other things, Papachino’s Pizza Place in Morningside offered a range of mouth-wateringly delicious pizzas, and two fabulous play areas for young children which were…and here comes the best bit…supervised!  Yes, there are several uniformed ladies in attendance to assist in looking after your children

Fun but Healthy Snacks for Toddlers!

I don’t know about you, but I struggle to think of easy but healthy snacks for my toddler.  Having received a gift voucher for Caboodle/Snugglebugz, I decided to have a quick browse this morning, and I was delighted to discover their range of Annabel Karmel snacks from the UK, which they have recently introduced to their flagship store in Borrowdale Village.  Particularly good value
